Sandwich

The Lobster Roll

When a sandwich is broken down into its components, down to that singularly delicious place where bread meets stuff, there can be no happier melding than the simple lobster roll. At once decadent – hey, lobster is not exactly cheap – and down-home, the lobster roll is the perfect snack for those who don’t have time to strap on a bib and break out a shellfish hammer. Fresh lobster meat, usually with a bit of mayo as a binding agent, is stuffed into a toasted hot dog bun, and you’re on your way. Though they’re often called Maine lobster rolls, you’ll find them on menus everywhere along the Atlantic coast. Just look for a shack near your favourite beach for that last tasty smack of summertime.
