Erica Durance

Erica Durance claims her sci-fi fame is all down to geography. “Vancouver is where a lot of science fiction gets shot,” she says, “and as a result, I have ended up with some very good roles in the genre.” Durance is now into her third season playing a young Lois Lane in the ongoing Superman-as-a-young-man series Smallville. “At first I was intimidated by the role,” the Calgary-born actress concedes. “She’s such a loved character. But because we were going back in time, to the Lois before she became a journalist, it meant I could re-invent the wheel.” In another twist of geography, she met Margot Kidder herself – the other Canadian who portrayed Lane, in the original Superman movies – at a convention in Toronto. “She said I knocked it out of the park. That was very sweet.” Breakthrough role Lois Lane on Smallville Coming soon The Butterfly Effect 2
