Emmanuelle Chriqui

Although best known for her role as Sloan on HBO’s Entourage, there still needs to be an award invented for Montreal-born, Toronto-raised Emmanuelle Chriqui entitled Best Actress in a Performance Opposite A Pop Star-Turned-Actor. Chriqui has had the difficult challenge of playing the love interest of both Lance Bass of *NSYNC fame in On the Line and Usher in In the Mix. (Our thinking behind the casting: Complex magazine called her “unreasonably beautiful.” She is.) After being murdered in both The Crow: Wicked Prayer and Wrong Turn, her upcoming role as a seductress in the thriller Deceit will meld Chriqui’s favourite fates as an actor: love and death. Breakthrough role Abbey in On the Line Coming soon Deceit

Isabelle Blais

Isabelle Blais clearly has a talent for the seedier side of things. “I like exploring human nature, which is why these roles were ideal for me,” says the actress from Trois-Rivières. Witness the parts she’s referring to, that of a Czech mother doing battle with a sex-slavery network in Human Trafficking, and a peacekeeper in East Timor in Answered by Fire. (Of the last, she says, “It was transformative, both on a human and historic level.”) On stage, the star of a string of Quebecois critical hits – Un crabe dans la tête, Les aimants – has another act: singing with her band, Caïman Fu. Breakthrough role Sylvaine in The Barbarian Invasions Coming soon La belle empoisonneuse

Jennifer Finnigan

A soap-opera phenom. A sitcom ditz. The DA in a courtroom procedural. Actresses dream of following that kind of career path; Montreal’s Jennifer Finnigan knocked them all out before her 27th birthday. After her three-peat at the Daytime Emmys – in the category of Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series for her role on The Bold and the Beautiful – she leapfrogged from a recurring role on the forensic drama Crossing Jordan to a lead on Committed to her current gig: Close to Home. Like her TV character, the (Hollywood) jury is ruling in Finnigan’s favour. Breakthrough role Marni Fliss on Committed Coming soon Season two of Close to Home
