Total Recall

ROBERT, 2007
(from the series I Am Elvis, Portraits from the Collingwood Elvis Festival, Ontario, Canada)
Henrieta Haniskova

“They call themselves ‘tribute artists rather than impersonators,” Haniskova explains of her subjects. “I grew up in socialist Czechoslovakia, so I’m fascinated by aspects of North American culture like drive-in movies or soda floats.”

BARRY WHITE, NAPOLI, 2006
Raffaela Mariniello

Bright lights, old city: Known for capturing the enigmatic beauty of urban and industrial landscapes with drawn-out exposures and dusky light, Mariniello juxtaposes a neon-adorned hot-dog stand with a medieval Neapolitan square.

THE BLACK CLOUD, 2000
(From the series The Adventures of Guille and Belinda and the Enigmatic Meaning of Their Dreams)
Alessandra Sanguinetti

Sanguinetti spent five years photographing these two young cousins in rural Argentina. “A storm was coming, loud thunder struck and Guillermina and Belinda hugged,” says Sanguinetti. “This image represents how close they were, but it’s also ominous because everything in their lives was about to change.”
