The Po’ Boy Sandwich

If you’re looking for a good time in New Orleans, just remember that you don’t have to do anything you may later see on a grainy online video. What you do for a string of shiny beads is your business, of course, but don’t miss the Crescent City’s immodest improvement on bread: the po’ boy sandwich. This Big Easy take on the hoagie is a French loaf stuffed with ingredients redolent of the rich, iconic cuisine of Louisiana. In other words, tucking into a good po’ boy is one way to learn, at long last, that baked ham goes deliciously well with roast beef gravy. My favourite is the seafood po’ boy served at Domilise’s, an uptown bar favoured by the NFL’s Manning family. It’s where, with a cold can of your favourite, you’re served top-notch sandwiches packed with fried oysters and shrimp. Two words: Mmm, seafoody!
