My nosh: The Atlantic City Sub

There’s only one sure bet in Atlantic City: the White House Sub Shop. Try the eponymous special (salami, ham and capicollo) and you’ll understand why they’re always lined up outside like it was a methadone clinic. Inside, the White House hasn’t changed much since it opened in 1946. Their wall of fame is a who’s who of Atlantic City entertainers – a collection highlighted by a Frank Sinatra towel encased in glass. In a city that gave the world the original names for the Monopoly properties and saltwater taffy, it’s nice to know that some traditions remain the same – like cutting an 18-inch sub in three parts and calling it breakfast, lunch and supper.
