SPIRIT NEW YORk
GAIN, NO PAIN

For most of us, working out is pure drudgery. But these three new ways to exercise are so effortless they could even be considered… fun.

Get Skin-ny
Though Vancouver spa Skoah calls its skin-care regime “personal training for your skin,” it’s sweat-free. “You don’t have to do anything. We do all the work,” says esthetician Lisa Yeung. Fitskin or Extreme facials are the once-a-month workout of choice for both men and women in a sleek space that looks like a hip health club. For home training, Skoah offers its own line of natural products.

Food to Go
Combining food and exercise sounds bizarre, but U.K. supermarket chain Tesco is doing just that. The Trim Trolley is a grocery cart with an adjustable resistance wheel and sensors that gauge heart rate and calories burned, like cardio equipment at the gym. You can burn up to 420 calories during a one-hour shopping trip, as many as during a leisurely swim. Just stay out of the junk-food aisle.

Power Bar
Spirit locations in Dublin and New York offer Tibetan healing journeys, chakra alignment, reiki… and the throbbing beat of dance music. Visit the Mind, Body and Soul sections of these spa/gym/nightclubs for a yoga class, a healthy snack and a night of drinking and dancing. They call it “enlightenment through entertainment.” We call it having your organic cake and eating it too.
