Show Me the Mummy

As far as the British Museum is concerned nothing is more yummy than a mummy. Most visitors make a beeline straight for the museum’s bandaged beauties, including wig-wearing Katebet, a redhead nicknamed Ginger and even some mummies from the animal kingdom including a pet dog, a falcon and an eel. Recognizing the public’s mummy fixation, the museum has gone one step further, creating a 3-D film that gets under the wrappings and travels through the body of Nesperennub, a priest from Karnak. What is it that attracts people to ride in hot air balloons? According to Lucien Desbiens, balloonmeister at the International Balloon Festival in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., it’s the sensation of floating with the clouds that compels people to ride in his beautiful balloon. “The altitude of a normal flight varies [from 600 to 900 metres], but you can ascend up to 10,000 metres if you want to travel long distances,” he says.
