The Rooftop Cocktail

Summer is the perfect season to elevate your drinking – up onto the rooftop, that is. The best hot weather drinks call from hot climes, so I looked south for bright ideas. This concoction draws from tropical classics: tequila from the Mexican margarita, rum from the Cuban daiquiri and cane sugar from Brazil’s caipirinha. Then I added a splash of Italian Cynar (a bitter made from artichokes) to make it unique. The result is top-floor refreshment.
- 2 lime wedges
- 1 lemon wedge
- 1/2 tsp cane sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 oz tequila
- 1 oz white rum
- 1/2 oz Cynar
- tonic water
Squeeze lime and lemon into a tall glass and drop in juiced wedges. Add sugar and salt. Mix until it dissolves. Fill glass up with ice. Add the tequila, rum and Cynar. Top off with tonic water. Stir well and serve with a straw.
