THE ROCK GODS

Nickelback lead lungs Chad Kroeger was still a school kid in Hanna, Alta., when Loverboy led its bandana-and-big-hair assault on the charts. When Mike Reno sang "Turn Me Loose," female fans loosened up all right, squealing and throwing lacy unmentionables onstage. Twenty-five years later, a new hormone-charged generation has succumbed to Nickelback and to Kroeger’s sexy mane. Sure, the arena-rock pyrotechnics are the same, complete with anthemic tunes and cute guys in tight pants. Nobody’s complaining.
