THE SONGBIRDS

Blazing a pop trail a quarter-century before Céline and Shania, Anne Murray rode "Snowbird" and other light ballads to U.S. chart success. Yet she steered her career on her own terms, putting her family life before the music business. Today maverick singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette has made a career of showcasing her personal life in her music – also without compromising her values. Is it any wonder that the two share the same initials?
